Anna Lee Ackermann is an award-winning filmmaker based in Chicago. Through her time pursuing a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Documentary with a dual focus in film and journalism and a minor in Social Media and Digital Strategy at Columbia College Chicago, and serving as an intern at Kartemquin Films, she has sharpened her storytelling skills working on a number of documentaries and professional projects.
Her director and producer debut short documentary, “As We Are Planted,” is available to view now! The documentary explores the issue of food insecurity in Chicago through two organizations on the South Side of Chicago. Among the film's many awards includes CineYouth's 2021 Chicago Award.
Today she runs the social media channels for Broadway In Chicago, edits podcasts, shoots the occasional wedding, and continues her filmmaking as a freelancer.
Anna Lee has worked with Impact for Equity, Illinois Committee of Blind Vendors, Bright Endeavors, and a few musicals including Hamilton, SIX, and Moulin Rouge! The Musical.
When not working, you can find her baking, playing board games, or trying to convince her friends to go bouldering or skydiving with her!
