
Anna Lee Ackermann is an award-winning filmmaker and freelance Chicago-based content creator and documentarian in both visual, audio, and written forms. Through her time pursuing a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Documentary (December '20) with a dual focus in film and journalism and a minor in Social Media and Digital Strategy at Columbia College Chicago, and serving as an intern at Kartemquin Films, she has sharpened her storytelling skills working on a number of documentaries and professional projects.
During her time at Columbia College Chicago, Ackermann served as the Media Director for the TEDxColumbiaCollegeChicago conference and led the annual DocYourWorld festival as Creative Director in spring 2019 featuring award-winning producer Caryn Capotosto as the guest speaker.
Her director and producer debut short documentary, “As We Are Planted,” is available to view now! The documentary explores the issue of food insecurity in Chicago through two organizations on the South Side of Chicago.
Ackermann has worked with SIX The Musical, The Color of Autism, Illinois Committee of Blind Vendors, Bright Endeavors, and more.
In her free time, Ackermann enjoys cooking, playing board games, bouldering, and going skydiving!
